Colville, Washington June 12-13, 2010
Hunters are invited to compete in a Free Coyote Hunting
Competition on June 12-13. There will be cash prizes for the 4
most successful hunting teams plus every participant has a
chance to win the Free Grand Prize Raffle for a Remington
Tactical Varmint Rifle donated by Remington Arms. Hunters who
pre-register by June 7 will also be eligible to win the $100
Early Bird Raffle.
To compete, you must be a member of the Colville Chapter of the
National Wild Turkey Federation and register by 9 PM, Friday
June 11. Late entries will not be accepted. Interested hunters
are encouraged to join the Colville Chapter, membership is only
$50.
Contestants can begin hunting at 4:30 AM Saturday morning June
12, but hunters must check in at any registration location by 12
Noon on Saturday after which they can continue hunting.
Coyotes may be hunted on any lands open to hunting within
Stevens, Ferry, and Pend Oreille Counties. Written permission
should be obtained before hunting private land.
Hunting ends at 12 Noon on Sunday, June 13. Hunters must present
all coyotes at the Fort Colville Gun Club (3 miles east of
Colville on Hwy 20) no later than 12 Noon on June 13 for
check-in and for scientific samples to be taken for University
research.
4 Winning Teams who take the most coyotes, the grand prize
winner, and the early bird winner will be announced at about
1:00 PM. You must be present at the announcement to win prizes.
There will also be target shooting events for pistol, rifle,
archery, muzzleloader, and shotgun for you to participate in.
Burgers, Drinks, and Snacks will be sold by a local 4-H Shooting
Team that’s raising money to compete at the National 4-H
Shooting Competition in late June, please help support these
young shooters by purchasing a meal and snacks during the event.
The sponsors, Remington Arms Company, Marlin Firearms,
Washington for Wildlife, and the National Wild Turkey Federation
actively promote hunting and shooting activities. They invite
you to come and participate in this fun hunting event.
Coyote Competition Hunting Rules
1. Contest sponsored by Upper Columbia Gobblers, Colville
Chapter of NWTF, Washington for
Wildlife, Remington Arms Company, and Marlin Firearms.
2. Contest is open to 2-Person Teams who are Colville NWTF
Chapter Members. (Membership
is $50)
3. Prizes Worth Up To $2000 Will Be Awarded
Cash For 4 Winners...The
4 hunting teams taking the most coyotes will receive cash
prizes.
$100 Early Bird Raffle….Hunters
who pre-register for the hunt by June 7 are eligible for this
prize.
Grand Prize Raffle……...Each
participant receives one entry in the raffle for participating
in the hunt
and one additional entry for each coyote taken by their team.
4. Hunters can begin hunting, at 4:30 AM on Saturday June 12.
5. Contestants are advised to be well rested before and during
the contest for safety
reasons.
6. Hunters must have a WDFW Small Game hunting licenses and
follow all applicable
Washington laws.
7. All hunting must occur within Stevens, Ferry, and Pend
Oreille County.
8. Only lands open to hunting may be hunted. Written
permission should be obtained for
private lands.
9. No coyote(s) may be entered in the contest which was taken
prior to 4:30 AM on
Saturday June 12.
10. All hunters must check-in at a registration location by
Noon on June 12. You must report
how many coyotes your team has taken that morning and then you
can continue hunting.

11. All coyotes taken must be retained by the hunters until the
end of the contest.
12. The Competition ends at 12 Noon on Sunday June 13. Hunters
must bring all coyotes to
the Fort Colville Gun Club (3 miles east of Colville on Hwy 20)

June 13 to be eligible for prizes. Winners will be announced at
1:00 PM and you must be
present to win prizes.
13. Coyotes will be checked to assure they have been freshly
taken and are correctly
marked. If any coyote is judged not to be freshly taken it will
disqualify the hunting team.
Scientific samples may be taken for University Research.
14. Even if you do not kill any coyotes you must report your
hunting activity to be eligible for
prizes. This assures an accurate accounting of the harvest to
the Washington
Department of Fish & Wildlife.
15. Contestants will be disqualified for any violation of
contest rules, wildlife laws, or
trespassing laws.
16. In the event of a tie, a 5 Shot off-hand rifle shooting
competition will be used to determine
the winner.
